Keiichi Takasawa was born in 1914 in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. In 1936 he entered Nihon University but left before completing his studies. In 1939 he received the Asahi Award for one of his paintings, marking an early recognition of his artistic talent.

During the Pacific War, Takasawa worked as a war reporter. After 1945, he earned his living primarily as an illustrator for women's magazines and through various commercial art assignments. Alongside this work, he continued to pursue painting, focusing mainly on bijin-ga, the genre depicting beautiful women that has a long tradition in Japanese art.

His bijin-ga compositions are characterized by elegant, slender female figures, often shown with elongated necks and refined facial features. It is widely believed that the recurring model in many of his works was his wife. In 1974 and 1975, Takasawa held two notable exhibitions in Paris, which increased his international visibility.

Keiichi Takasawa died in 1984.
