Welcome to a quiet corner of the studio! I created Megan’s Musings as a way to share the heart behind Orenco Originals. Whether it’s a peek at what’s blooming in my Oregon garden, a deep dive into the history of a favorite painter, or a story about the new stitching skills I’m tackling, this is my space to connect with you. I hope these notes bring a little extra inspiration to your hoop and a bit of 'spring energy' to your day.
There is such a special kind of magic in these first few days of March, isn't there? Watching the daffodils finally trumpet open in the garden feels like a personal invitation from nature to step outside and get my hands back into the earth. There’s a certain restorative energy that comes with clearing away the winter debris and planning where the new life will bloom this year. After a morning spent in the fresh air, I’ve found myself retreating to my favorite chair to put the very last stitches into my current cross-stitch project. There is a quiet, rhythmic satisfaction in pulling that final length of floss through the fabric, marking the end of a creative journey just as the world outside is beginning a new one.
With the days stretching out longer and the golden evening light lingering in the room, I’ve been savoring this intentional pause before diving into my next piece. My mind is already dancing between a few different designs, but I feel a pull toward something that challenges me—perhaps a new hand-stitching skill or a complex specialty stitch I haven't mastered yet. There’s a wonderful sense of renewal in being a student again, and the vibrant energy of spring feels like the perfect season to embrace that growth. For now, I’m just enjoying the anticipation of a fresh cup of tea in hand, as I dream up which colors and textures will define my stitching for the months ahead.
